Exterior: All-New Lighting and Aero

The 2026 M9 introduces a new million-pixel full-color smart projection headlight, capable of casting colored images, animated welcome scenes, lane-light carpets and inter-vehicle distance warnings on the road. A redesigned mesh grille with chrome accents replaces the outgoing horizontal-bar design.

BEV variants gain a 217-liter frunk with two-tier storage, built-in lighting, drain-and-rinse cleaning capability and eight different smart-opening modes. Seven body colors are available: Obsidian Black, Spruce Green, Warm Cloud White, Desert Gold-Brown, Sayram Cyan, Cangsea Silver-Blue and Jinrui Red.

Vehicle dimensions have grown across the board: 5,285 × 2,026 × 1,845 mm with a 3,125 mm wheelbase (+55 mm length, +27 mm width, +45 mm height, +15 mm wheelbase versus the outgoing M9). Drag coefficient is rated at a class-leading 0.249 Cd.

Interior: Three-Screen Cockpit and Hongmeng 4.0

Inside, the M9 retains its dual-cocoon dashboard layout, now in four new color options (Red Tea Orange, Shaohua Apricot, Truffle Brown, Lanyue White, Maple Red). The Universe Triple-Display front layout includes a 10.25-inch full-LCD instrument cluster, two 17.2-inch 3.4K displays and an AR-HUD.

Hongmeng Cockpit 4.0 debuts with Huawei’s new Xiaoyi smart agent supporting continuous conversation, multi-turn commands and scene-based control. The 5-seat layout offers up to 1,063 L of trunk space (expandable to 2,318 L); the 6-seat version offers 563 L (1,370 L expanded), plus a hidden 79–118 L underfloor storage compartment.

Both rows of front seats and the second row offer heating, ventilation and massage; the driver gets active bolster support. The 6-seat configuration adds dual self-leveling armrests on the captain chairs and a 32-inch ceiling-mounted projector screen that supports split-view dual-passenger movie watching, plus a half-transparent rear-projection mode that creates a 46-inch outdoor camp-mode screen behind the tailgate.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The new M9 uses Huawei’s Xuanwu 2.0 body architecture with a 13-cross-by-11-longitudinal frame, 91% aluminum-alloy and high-strength steel construction, and ten 2,200 MPa hot-stamped reinforcements. Thirteen airbags are standard, paired with an AI-adaptive protection system.

Active safety is anchored by 40 sensors total, including six LiDARs (one 896-line roof-mounted unit, one in-cabin LiDAR, four solid-state corner LiDARs), three distributed 4D millimeter-wave radars, two 4D corner radars, eleven cameras, twelve ultrasonics and six exterior microphones. The full-suite Huawei ADS 5 system handles highway NOA, urban NOA and parking in one stack.

Powertrain: 800V Dual-SiC Platform

The 2026 M9 debuts an all-new 800V dual-silicon-carbide architecture:

  • EREV variants combine a 1.5T range-extender (118 kW), a 220 kW front motor and a 277 kW rear motor with either a 60 kWh or 75 kWh battery — delivering CLTC pure-electric ranges of 340 km / 422 km and combined ranges of 1,345 km / 1,405 km.
  • BEV variants use the same 220 kW + 277 kW dual-motor AWD setup paired with a 120 kWh pack for 715 km CLTC pure-electric range.

Suspension is a double-wishbone front / multi-link rear setup with closed-loop dual-chamber air springs, continuously variable dampers, ±8° rear-wheel steering and an 800V active suspension system. The car supports V2L/V2H bidirectional charging.

Ultimate Lingshi: The Long-Wheelbase Flagship

The range-topping Ultimate Lingshi long-wheelbase version stretches to 5,402 × 2,026 × 1,845 mm with a 3,236 mm wheelbase, gains an exclusive Yadan Gold-Black paint, illuminated badge, retractable side steps, two-color projection welcome lights and a 43-speaker HUAWEI SOUND Extraordinary audio system. Powertrain choices include a 2.0T range-extender with three motors (664 kW combined system output) or a dual-motor BEV with a 120 kWh battery and 750 km CLTC range. The Lingshi also gets full-active suspension and steer-by-wire.

Delivery Timeline and Owner Incentives

Mass deliveries for the Max+ and Ultra trims begin in June 2026. Customers who order before June 30 get up to RMB 52,000 (~$7,200) in additional benefits, with existing owners eligible for another RMB 50,000 (~$6,900) in loyalty bonuses. The Ultimate Lingshi launches in August with a Pioneer Edition, offering a RMB 122,000 (~$16,800) options package for a flat RMB 80,000 (~$11,000) — with regular Lingshi deliveries kicking off in September.

Why It Matters

Two years ago, the original AITO M9 single-handedly disrupted China’s full-size luxury SUV segment by undercutting the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5 with smarter tech and superior cabin packaging. With a wider lineup, six LiDARs as standard, an 800V architecture and Huawei ADS 5, the 2026 M9 is positioned to widen that lead — and to take on rivals like the Li Auto MEGA, Yangwang U8 and the rising tide of premium EREV SUVs.
