BYD Prepares Its Biggest Sedan Ever: Da Han Flagship Targets 1,008 km Range and D-Class Luxury at Chengdu Auto Show 2026

BYD is set to unveil what may be its most ambitious vehicle to date when the Da Han (“Great Han”) makes its public debut at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show on August 21. The pure-electric D-class sedan stretches 5,256 mm with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, crossing the 5,200 mm threshold for the first time in BYD’s Dynasty series. With a claimed CLTC range of up to 1,008 km from a 102.3 kWh Blade Battery and dual-motor AWD output of 570 kW (775 hp), the Da Han enters territory normally reserved for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, but at a price point that could reshape the luxury sedan segment in China.

Dimensions That Rival German Flagships

Compared to the current Han EV, the Da Han adds 261 mm in length, 89 mm in width, and 210 mm in wheelbase. This is not a generational update but an entirely new vehicle. The dual-motor AWD variant pairs a 200 kW front motor with a 370 kW rear motor for 570 kW combined output, while the single-motor RWD version delivers 370 kW with range options up to 880 km. BYD’s Flash Charge technology, which the company says can add meaningful range in just 3 to 5 minutes, aims to address the last major barrier to long-distance BEV adoption. A plug-in hybrid variant with a 1.5T engine and 54.5 kWh battery offers 370 km of pure-electric range for buyers not yet ready to go fully electric.

Dragon Face Design Scaled to D-Class Presence

The Da Han retains BYD’s Dragon Face design language but scales it dramatically. A full-width LED light bar integrates with matrix headlights around the signature “Han” character badge. The fastback roofline gives the sedan a sleek, low-slung profile, while the rear features BYD’s Chinese Knot full-width tail light. MIIT filings confirm a roof-mounted LiDAR, indicating BYD’s Eye of God B ADAS system with city-level NOA, highway pilot, and intelligent parking support. The interior is expected to feature a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 17.3-inch floating center screen, 50-inch AR-HUD, and Nappa leather across all seats with massage, heating, and ventilation. Air suspension, double-wishbone front suspension, five-link rear, and rear-wheel steering complete the flagship specification. Pricing has not been announced, but given BYD’s track record of undercutting European rivals by 40 to 50 percent, the Da Han could land in the RMB 300,000 to 400,000 range, significantly below comparable Mercedes and BMW offerings.
