On May 27, 2026, SAIC-GM-Wuling opened pre-sale for the all-new Xingguang L — a mid-large plug-in hybrid SUV that takes the company’s Xingguang (Starlight) sub-brand into a larger, more family-oriented body style. With a generous 6-seat layout, a 260 km pure-electric range and a 1,260 km combined range, the Xingguang L undercuts most of its segment competitors while delivering a remarkably complete feature set.
Three trims are offered, all built on the same 260 km EV-range battery platform and differentiated by features rather than range.

Exterior and Body Specs
The Xingguang L wears a stately, family-oriented design with a body size befitting its segment: 4,980 × 1,930 × 1,760 mm with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. Standard features across all trims include an active grille shutter (AGS) for thermal and aero balance, full-LED headlights with automatic operation, cornering lights, height-adjustable beams, delayed-off function and a dedicated charge-port illumination light.
Approach angle is 17°, departure angle 21°, and the turning radius is just 5.9 meters — class-leading for a 5-meter SUV. Standard wheels are 20-inch alloys with 235/55 R20 tires, with the Flagship trim getting Michelin rubber.
A powered tailgate with position memory, passive entry, push-start ignition, RF remote key plus Bluetooth phone key, and (on Flagship) heated, auto-folding, auto-dimming exterior mirrors round out the convenience kit.

Interior: Practical, Quiet, Six-Seat Family Hauler
Inside, the Xingguang L offers a minimalist cabin in Sand Tao Brown or Cloud Glaze White color schemes. Flagship gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel with 4-way adjustment, column-mounted shifter and multifunction controls.
The Flagship trim adds an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster + 15.6-inch 2K central touchscreen, running Wuling’s Lingyu infotainment OS with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, 4G/Wi-Fi connectivity and OTA support. The Hi Xiaoling voice assistant supports dual-zone wake-up, wake-word-free mode and continuous conversation control of media, navigation, AC, windows and seat heating/ventilation.
Cabin acoustics get serious attention: dual-layer laminated glass on the windshield, front doors and second-row doors, plus rear seamless wipers and inductive front wipers.
Charging and storage include seven USB/Type-C ports (3 front, 2 second row, 2 third row), 50 W wireless phone charging on the driver’s side and two 12 V outlets.
Driver Assistance and Safety (Flagship)
The Flagship trim includes Wuling’s Lingmu smart driving system with 2 millimeter-wave radars, 6 ultrasonics, 1 front high-perception camera and 4 surround cameras — enabling adaptive cruise plus highway and urban L2 assistance. Active safety features include BSD, DOW, FCW, AEB, FCTA/FCTB, RCTA, RCW, LDW/RDP, LKA, TSR, AFL automatic high-beams, plus 360° surround view and front/rear parking sensors.
2+2+2 Six-Seat Layout
The 6-seat layout is the model’s defining feature. Captain’s chairs are used in row 2 with 4-way power adjustment and a boss-key button on the front passenger side that slides the seat forward for rear-cabin VIPs.
The third row is not a fold-down emergency bench: it features independent seats, manual backrest adjustment, dedicated cup-holders and adequate headroom for adult passengers on long trips. Front + middle-row seat heating and front ventilation are included on the Flagship.
Cargo space is 383 L in standard 6-seat configuration, expandable to a generous 1,103 L with rear seats folded.

Why It Matters
Wuling has historically dominated the budget EV segment with cars like the Hongguang Mini EV. The Xingguang L is part of a deliberate trade-up strategy that already produced the Bingo Pro and the Xingguang sedan. At under RMB 140,000 for a 5-meter, 6-seat PHEV with 1,260 km combined range, the Xingguang L directly challenges the BYD Song Plus DM-i, Geely Galaxy L7 and Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV — at a meaningfully lower price.
