Li Auto Brings Flagship 4-LiDAR Hardware to a Sub-$35,000 EREV: The 2026 L6 Facelift Lands the Livis ADAS Stack in the Made-in-China Family-SUV Mainstream

China’s most disciplined extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) brand is moving its flagship sensor stack two segments down. The 2026 Li Auto L6 facelift, confirmed for a July sale start, keeps the family-oriented EREV value proposition that already made the L6 Li’s top volume seller, but layers in a four-LiDAR sensor array matching the flagship L9, a materially larger high-energy battery pack, and the brand’s new Livis intelligent-driving stack. Pricing has not yet been formally announced; Li Auto has only said the L6 will remain “the most accessible Livis-equipped Li Auto,” which industry observers read as a sub-300,000 RMB (about $41,400) entry trim and a likely Pro starting point near 249,800 RMB.

Why the LiDAR Choice Matters

The headline software upgrade is the move from a single roof-mounted LiDAR to a four-sensor suite: one image-grade unit on the roof, two side-mounted units in the front fenders, and one rear-facing unit integrated into the spoiler. That layout was previously reserved for the L9 and matches its 2026 hardware refresh. It makes the L6 the cheapest Li Auto with full 360-degree LiDAR coverage and one of the few sub-300,000 RMB family SUVs in China shipping that hardware as standard rather than as a paid option. The Livis stack — Li Auto’s rebranded end-to-end successor to Li AD Max — runs all three 2026 Li OTA waves.

Powertrain: Bigger Battery, Same EREV Logic

The 2026 facelift remains an EREV. The 1.5T four-cylinder range extender at 113 kW peak is carried over with calibration tweaks, but the pack grows. Two battery options are now on the engineering plan: a roughly 42 kWh ternary lithium standard pack delivering about 245 km CLTC pure-electric range (up from 212 km), and a roughly 50 kWh long-range pack at about 290 km CLTC. Combined CLTC range with a full 65-litre fuel tank comfortably exceeds 1,400 km. Peak DC fast-charge power lifts to a quoted 100 kW, putting the 10-to-80 percent stop near 22 minutes.

Exterior, Cabin, and the Volume Outlook

The Star Ring full-width LED light bar carries over with a sharper horizontal DRL graphic echoing the Li MEGA MPV. Cd drops from 0.275 to 0.265 thanks to new low-drag mirrors and an underbody tray. Inside, a triple HD display layout, an upgraded AR-HUD, a Travel Concierge voice assistant powered by Li Auto’s MindGPT, and an optional second-row OLED ceiling screen complete the cabin refresh.
